My friend is looking for a short prayer to say at her grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary party. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Here’s one from the CCCB’s “Blessings and Prayers for Home and Family”
Blessed are you, Lord, loving God of all creation:
you have made us your beloved
and have showered gifts upon us.
We thank you for the life of N. and N.
and for their (50) years together.
Continue to fill their hearts
with love for you and for each other.
Bless them (and their children and grandchildren)
and all their relatives and friends.
Lead us all through this life
to eternal happiness with you.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
The Grace at this party could be:
Generous God, giver of all good gifts,
we praise and thank you for N. and N.
and for allowing us to witness their love.
May the joy of this gathering and the food we share
be signs to us of your constant love.
Bless us and the food we eat
and give us grateful hearts to sing your praise
now and for ever. AMEN.
thank you so much!
My pleasure. I’m delighted that my boss bought one of those Blessings books for for me when they came out.
Phemie’s prayer is wonderful! I don’t have a prayer… but a comment.
Our parish does a monthly “recognition” of couples with Anniversaries… and I’m always awed by those couples who have lived out the vocation of Marriage, Love and Family for so many years! So many decades! What a blessing and example for everyone… especially in this day and age… when there are seemingly endless assaults on the “Family”.
God bless them. Please extend my congrats to your friend… for her grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary.
