Belgian pancake recipe with beer?

I’m looking for a belgian pancake recipe. My grandmother used to make these pancakes for us growing up and I didn’t get the recipe! My grandpa used to add a can of beer to the batter for the yeast?

Can anybody help? :confused:

I googled “pancakes beer”, this was the first recipe that came up, there were others out there too… even a suggestion to use pancake mix and simply substitute beer for water…

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup beer
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
    DIRECTIONS

  • In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in the egg, beer and melted butter; stir with a whisk just until blended - a few lumps are okay.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Coat with vegetable oil or cooking spray. Spoon about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake. When bubbles appear on top of the pancakes, flip, and cook until browned on the other side.

Don’t know about Belgian pancakes, but there are books of recipes calling for beer as levening. Beer-batter biscuits are great for breakfast.
I have a recipe for José Cuervo Christmas Cookies, but the frequent checking of one of the contents tends to cause amnesia:whistle: .

Plenty of beer-bread recipes on the net as well - one of the easiest ways to home-make bread that I’ve ever seen (none of the rising and punching down and rising again palaver). And delish!
