Can I eat eggs on Fridays during Lent?

My husband believes not, but my friend who is a teacher at our local Catholic school thinks you can.

Your friend is correct. Although at one time, the abstinence from meat included meat
by-products such as eggs, butter, and cheese, the current discipline of the Latin rite of the Church allows Latin-rite Catholics to eat meat by-products on the Fridays of Lent.
