Did Pope Francis teach Universalism?

Michael Lofton of Reason and Theology defends the Church, Pope Francis and Archbishop Fernandez the new doctrinal chief, from a lie that is now consuming formally respected high ranking Catholics like Dr Ralph Martin.

Funny vocabulary again.

I’d normally understand “universalism” to mean moral universalism (morality applies regardless of space and time). Now I learn some people use it to mean the view that there is no Hell.

The word has more than one meaning, and it’s not a case of “funny” vocabulary.

Universalism is also used to express the idea that everyone is ultimately saved. It’s one of the main tenets of the Unitarian Universalist sect (to the extent they can even be said to have “tenets”).
