I had an experience yesterday which I believe was Divine direction. I guess what I want to know is if what I think happened is in line with Catholic belief and teaching.
A friend of mine passed away this week and after attending her funeral I came home and wrote a letter to her two adult children. Near the end of the letter I quoted Matthew 28:20, specifically the part that says, “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” As a Christian I was familiar with that quote, but did not know where it was and had to look it up.
Later that evening another friend of mine called me and we were talking about her sister’s passing about a month ago. And my friend confessed to me that she could not stay in the room with her sister as she passed and she feels terrible because her sister was all alone. I immediately told her that, as a Christian, she knew in her heart that her sister was not alone and quoted Matthew 28:20 to her. And had the most wonderful feeling (not to mention a serious case of goosebumps! :bigyikes:) that I was lead earlier to look up that quote from scripture so I would be prepared to console my friend when she called.
Does this sound right, as far as Catholic teaching is concerned? 
I hope so because I just love the idea that God would trust me enough to use me in this way.
Yes, you were favored by God’s inspiration. Remember that the Shepherd always goes ahead of the sheep, and leads them into verdant pastures. Sounds like that’s just what you did under Divine guidance. 
This is what we call the gift of prophecy, not that you foretell the future as the name might suggest, but that you speak under God’s anointing for the upbuilding of another’s spirit.

Those goosebumps are confirmations from the Lord.

10 to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues.
11 But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.
Yes dude you did a great thing God bless you. Sometimes God does little things like that for us so we know He exists (to reaffirm it I guess).
