Getting a new priest!

I just found out recently that our pastor may be moving to a different parish. After the initial sadness wore off, everyone started talking about the kind of priest they hope we get. Some of them are even writing the bishop with requests. As for me, I am trusting in the bishop’s discretion and praying that God’s Will be done. Could you join me? Our parish is so complacent and so many parishoners would rather move to a different parish than deal with change. Please pray that God’s Will be done in my church!

Thank you.

May Our Lord send you a priest who will help your parishioners find their way to His Kingdom and may they be open to his message. Amen.

missionary girl our parish did and is still going through a transition with the departure of a BELOVED priest. So I feel your pain and will join you in praying for the work of the Holy Spirit in this transition. Change IS hard but I started immediately praying for our new priest to be, even though of course we don’t know who will be named. Our former priest caught me after Mass right before he left and asked me to please do everything I can to welcome the new priest and support him. I am sure he asked others to do the same. So as you imagine your new priest pray how you might be able to help him with the transition as well.

If you have the chance to talk to some who are thinking of leaving or are negative, remind them that Christ is still present in your Parish and Church isn’t a building or even a priest, but the people. You get out of it what you put into it. I found that the gripers were generally those who sat in the pews and just wanted to be “enteratined” for lack of a better phrase. So if you can encourage them to invest themselves into the Parish and getting ready for the gifts and graces to come.

I pray that your new Priest will indeed be holy, faithful and devout!

Oremus pro sacerdotis nuovum.

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Saints John Marie Vianney and Peter Julian Eymard, intercede for them.

Praying. Two parishes I belonged to in 2011 both got new priests and they turned out to be terrific.

Remembering your current and future pastors in my daily prayers. God bless!

Praying.

Our Father, who art in heaven.
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Amen
