I was wondering if anyone could refer me to a high level Apologetical book on the Catholic Perscpective. I was reading a book from a Protestant Publishing Company that dealt with termed “Problem Verses”. And the discussions and ideas that it brought did bring a higher level of ambiguity to certain verses (such as Matthew 16 for the Papacy and John 6 for the Eucharist among many other things). Does any here know of any books or disertations that go beyond the 2nd teir of the arguments (the first rebuttel of the main claim)?
You might find the works of Fr. Aidan Nichols, O.P. to be along the lines of what you are looking for:
I would also suggest books and tracts by Dave Armstrong. He has written a book called A Biblical Defense of Catholicism which I highly recommend.
You might also go to his website: socrates58.blogspot.com/2006/11/papacy-index-page.html and read his materials and debates. Frequently, non-Catholic attacks are dealt with in depth by Dave and other converts that know the attacks and all of their inherent weaknesses.
I also recommend checking out Jimmy Akin’s site: jamesakin.com and Phil Vaz’s work at his website: bringyou.to/apologetics/apolog.htm
It might be helpful to specify the book that requires such a “high” response. “High” is a relative term and the name of the book would be helpful. Also, it could hlep in finding a specific response. Further, you might want to give the specific problems you find in that book that need such a response.
Thanks,
David
“High Level Catholic Apologetics” happens to be the subtitle of my book “Controversies.” You might want to take a look at it.
Well, Thank you good Sir. I shall most certainly look into it.
