I’m not Catholic (I’m attending an Anglican church), but I would like to learn how to pray the rosary for someone. I feel silly asking, but would really appreciate the help. Thanks:-)
There are guides available to help lead you. It is a beautiful meditation on the life of Christ that anyone can say. The only immediate hiccup I can think of is that the rosary begins with the Apostles creed. I dont know for sure the Anglican beliefs, so you may find a difference in beliefs. I dont want to discourage you but I dont know how to progress if this is the case.
Thank you for your reply.
I’m actually familiar with the rosary, I’m just not sure how to pray it for another person (someone who is sick).
We believe and recite the Nicene Creed in church (and I also know the Apostles Creed) so no issues regarding that.
Thanks again.
Offer each decade with a special intention.
I just say, “God, let these prayers be for the benefit of _____.” If there’s a specific reason I state it, if not, I figure God knows what that person/those people need.
I just state my intention at the beginning of the prayer. Sometimes I’ll divide up the decades, having one decade dedicated to a particular intention. I’ll say something like: “Heavenly Father, please accept this rosary for the intention of…” or something to that effect, and then continue on with the prayer as normal.
This site is a nice simple presentation of the prayer which also includes the “fruit of the mystery.” Personally I’m able to connect better to the “fruit of the mystery” rather than just the mystery alone. I also like the scripture references included as well.
God bless you for offering up this wonderful prayer for someone else!
Yes, thank you - God knows, for sure.
My grandparents are all in need of special prayers, especially my grandmother who is receiving hospice care at home in the last stages of ALS. Very hard time for her and our family.
Thanks again
The website is great. I completely understand connecting with the fruit of the mystery in addition to the mystery. I think that will really help me.
I also think I will look for some recordings of the rosary online that I can download to my Ipod and listen to …
Thank you again!
Yes, that really is a great website. Thanks for sharing it.
Hi “DD” Don’t feel silly. We’re all here to ask and answer questions.
It’s quite simple. Before you start your Rosary, just express your desire to Our Lord and Our Lady… of whom you are praying for. They will take it from there! God bless you!
I’m glad you both can benefit from it! One small mistake I just noticed though. They note the fruit of the 5th Joyful Mystery “Finding the Lord Jesus in the Temple” as Poverty. The correct fruit is “Joy in finding Jesus.” I know the fruits from a leaflet published by the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. I’m not sure, but I believe it was our beloved John Paul II who proclaimed these fruits. He was absolutely devoted to the Holy Rosary.
DDClark,
I found this thread which lists several links to different mysteries for MP3

I am happy that you pray the rosary for other.
Excellent information. I will check out these out. I found rosary army yesterday, but am interested in the others.
Thank you
My only advice for you as a protestant (even if you’re a "c"atholic one ) is to be careful about praying the rosary. You may just up and convert.
I know how that works firsthand…
