It connects Christ and the Resurrection to apostolic succession, which is the visible means we are able to be connected back historically to the events of the first century.
Good apologetically on two levels:
(1) Catholic-Protestant: Expresses importance of bishops/apostolic succession in the church
(2) Christian-Skeptic: Expresses how first century events (e.g., Resurrection) were connected in history
