Mortal Sin & Confession

If one were to commit a mortal sin and was truly sorry, would they be forgiven without going to confession? If they have the intention to go to confession as soon as possible and are still truly sorry and refuse to commit the sin again, will they be forgiven?

God is a God of mercy. If He knows that you had every intention of getting to Confession Asap, from what I have heard, you have no reason to doubt His mercy.

Yes, confession is important though, as it gives you graces.

Padre Pio and other saints spoke about amending your life and penance, like, you need to make up for your sins, i.e saying more rosarys etc (This is what the saints teach)
