Please pray for the judge to have mercy and believe my daughter did not intentionally shoplift. She was picking up my grandson;s layaway and bought some extra items. She was distracted while the cashier was ringing her up. Unfortunately, the cashier did not catch a big item, and my daughter did not notice. She had all of her receipts out in the open. There was a lady by the door and asked her for receipts. My daughter showed her and thought nothing of it. When she was loading up her car, she was told to go back in the store. Then, she was accused of shoplifting. She did not even realize the item was not rung up.
Without a doubt, I believe my daughter! And, anyone who knows me would know that I am the first to make my kids own up to what they have done. Unfortunately, she does have a history that may suggest that this was all intentional. She has a shoplifting charge from eight years ago. She has been working a good job for the past year, has cleaned herself up and had appointment to see an adviser about enrolling in community college. She has accomplished so much this past year, and this accusation can ruin her. She will lose her job, if she is found guilty. She may lose it, just by having that she was arrested in the paper. I am afraid that she will spiral down if she is charged.
And, I received the phone call to meet her as I was leaving to go to church. I was looking forward to it all day. I feel horrible that I missed mass. I am brokenhearted over all of this and to have missed mass on Immaculate Conception feast day!!
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
