Prayer to use with blessed salt

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew of a short simple prayer to use with blessed salt? I know the one I had came with a prayer but I seem to have misplaced it. Thanks so much!

What is blessed salt??

Blessed salt is a sacramental. The priest blesses the salt with a special prayer (blessing) and the prayer/blessing attaches itself to the salt and that prayer/blessing is placed where ever the salt is placed, no extra prayer is nedded (of course you are free to do so). Blessed salt is very powerful, it is a shame it is not as well known as it once was.

“Almighty God, we ask that wherever this salt (and water) is sprinkled, drive away the power of evil, and protect us always by the presence of your Holy Spirit. Grant this through Christ our Lord Amen.”

Who uses blessed salt and where and how is it used? I have to admit I’ve never heard of it before this thread. Is is ordinary salt that gets blessed or is there a special type of salt?

You can buy regular salt, take it to your priest and tell him you would like to have it blessed. Anyone can use it, you don’t have to be a priest. You can sprinkle it around your home inside or out, cook with it. Salt stays around longer than holy water so some people prefer to use salt instead of water. You can do a google search for blessed salt I am sure you’ll find more info. God bless.

Thanks.

Blessed salt is not a new sacramental, but the Holy Spirit seems to be leading many to a new interest in its remarkable power as an instrument of grace and healing. Any amount of salt may be presented to a priest for his blessing using the following official prayer from the Roman Ritual:

“Almighty God, we ask you to bless this salt, as once you blessed the salt scattered over the water by the prophet Elisha. Wherever this salt (and water) is sprinkled, drive away the power of evil, and protect us always by the presence of your Holy Spirit. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen”
