I don’t know the priest who was giving the talk, but he made an enlightening remark about the Baptism of Jesus. He referred to the account in Luke about how John the Baptist says he was unworthy to untie the strap of Jesus’s sandal. He links this with the account of the sandal in Ruth 4:7 to highlight how the gospels account Jesus as the eternal Bridegroom of the Church.
