Recently I have come across the term Roman Virtues and needless to say, they have intrigued me. If any of you would happen to have a full list of these virtues/values and discuss their compatibility with Catholicism, I would greatly appreciate it, as the Roman Republic/Imperial happens to be my favourite period of history and I have always wondered about the values that drove the Ancient Romans, especially at the beginning of the Empire under Caesar Augustus.
Look up works by Servais Pinckaers OP (the one on Virtues) Romanus Cessario O.P. on virtues and Josef Pieper (the Four Cardinal Virtues).
Such will be on virtues directly not the Romans per se…(much comes via the Greeks…such as Aristotle etc)
Ah, thank you my friend!
