It’s better than the Navarre. Literally best one around. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s awesome.

Especially the Lapide commentaries that are on there.

I would strongly recommend the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament. You can find a description of it here:

It is excellent! It has a lot of notes (often taking up half the page), great essays, and lots of apologetics materials, all written by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch. It is great for explaining the Catholic faith, and has answers to many common Protestant objections. Along with the notes and essays, it has an Index of Doctrines in the back of the book, which gives Scriptural citations for various Catholic doctrines (ie: Purgatory, veneration of relics, devotion to the saints, etc.)

The only shortcoming is that it doesn’t include the Old Testament. It took Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch 10 years to complete the notes, commentaries, etc. for the New Testament, and they’re currently working on the Old Testament books (they’ve finished Genesis and Exodus), and are releasing them individually as they are completed (this is how the New Testament books were originally released before they were all finished and placed in one volume).

However, the New Testament is so well done that I would encourage picking it up, even though it doesn’t include the Old Testament.

thank you both. will be going with the Ignatius!

I LOVE The New Catholic Answer Bible. It has pages throughout the whole Bible with answers to common questions AND scriptural citations of where the answers may be found in scripture. Definately worth looking into. It helped me ALOT.

Glad I could be of assistance. The Ignatius Study Bible is a real treasure.
