The president of the Associated Press has sent a letter of protest to US Attorney General Eric Holder over the Department of Justice’s broad surveillance of individual reporters’ phone conversations.
In a letter received by the AP on Friday, the Justice Department acknowledged but offered no explanation for the seizure of two months’ worth of telephone records of reporters and editors. AP’s president, Gary Pruitt, called the ongoing monitoring a “massive and unprecedented intrusion.”
I read the AP regularly and believe that their international news is very good. So, at best, the government thinks it can get details on terrorists and other enemies from the reporters. Most probably, it’s another government overstep of the Constitution.
Not positive on what to make of this, AP discovered a possible plot and this upset the White House? So they checked the AP’s phone records? Getting the press mad at you when they’'ve been easier on this administration than any for decades and decades probably isn’t the wisest thing to do. There are real implications to this!

Issa: Justice probe into AP is ‘disturbing’
The news immediately raised questions among members of Congress.
"The First Amendment is first for a reason," said Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner. “If the Obama administration is going after reporters’ phone records, they better have a damned good explanation.”
…
"We regard this action by the Department of Justice as a serious interference with AP’s constitutional rights to gather and report the news," he told Holder. Pruitt demanded that the department return all records collected and destroy all copies.
I don’t use them. I said that mainly because I believe they have been rejected as a linkable reliable source before, they were called “tabloid” I believe.
Right:rolleyes:
I put in the link because it occurred to me your link may not even be valid! Tell me I’m wrong, Tell me it hasn’t been rejected here before!
You posted that Israeli news agency story too and it was expressed that they were a valid news agency, they tend to be way wrong on these stories frequently actually. Too, it was the Israeli news agencies that had reported on Assad being assassinated by a body guard, no truth in that.
From Benghazi hearings to the IRS scandal, from a doctor being convicted of murder for doing what he had voted to authorize as a state senator to the DOJ phone record scandal, he has barely had time to put his economy-slowing, job-killing policies into effect.
I honestly think his administration is becoming a victiom of its own hubris. They have gotten away with so much thanks to a press that runs cover for them that they seem to be getting bolder and bolder. But ticking of the AP is never a good idea.
What was the first clue? The drones flying above you? The rabid attempt at confiscating your guns? The use of the mechanism of ‘Political Correctness’ to silence opposition? The misuse of the strong arming tactics of the IRS? The Eric Holder initiated intrusion into the Associated Press?:mad:
