Is it appropriate to use the Roasay for prayer other than its intended? For example, I would like to use the Rosary to meditate while praying only the Our Father? Is this a no-no? I love the Rosary, and pray it often, but I just wanted to make sure saying only the Our Father on each bead was not frowned upon by the church…thanks…Yours In Christ
The rosary itself is a tool for us to keep track of the prayers. Therefore, if you use it to pray something else, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
I am sure many people here using their fingers to pray the Rosary some times.
The rosary prayer is unique and powerful; therefore, if you can pray your other prayers as well as the Rosary, that will be awesome.

There are many versions of the Rosary. Originally developed in Ireland sometime around the 8th Century, the first use involved the Lord’s Prayer. Mary’s Rosary, using the Hail Mary is a later development.

I agree. Many people use the rosary to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, which has a nearly identical pattern of prayers.
Try thinking of it this way. Holding the Rosary while praying is like holding the Blessed Mother’s hand for support and strength. She would be proud to listen to you pray the “Our Father.” Don’t you think? Who would understand more than she?
