Why does christianity consider Jesus(pbuh) as God?
if Jesus was (is) a human like us?
are christians monotheist while they believe in three Gods?
is there more than one God for christians?
what does Jesus do that he is God or like God?
He created the Universe. We don’t consider Him God, He IS God.
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (Yahweh’s name in the Old Testament is literally “I AM THAT I AM”).
John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Here we have Thomas calling Jesus God without any rebuke from Him, He continues to say in verse 29-31:
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Jesus is fully human, but he is also fully God. God has always existed as three distinct persons. The second person of this Blessed Trinity, the Son of God, became man (one of us) to save us from sin and death, by his death and resurrection.
There is only one God, but God exists as three distinct persons. They are separate persons, but they share the same essence, the same divine substance. All three are equally and perfectly God. God is one being (one essence, one nature) but three persons. They exist in complete and perfect harmony. It is a mystery beyond human comprehension.
You are one being. You are also one person. If you were three persons, your being would have to be split between the three, and you would become divided. God is one being. God is three persons. But because God is infinite, there is no division—three persons exist as God.
Please feel free to ask any other questions that you may have.
Why do they concider Jesus as God?
What kind of a silly question is that? They concider Jesus as God because they are christian. If they were born in Iran they wouldn’t concider him God.
But they were born and raised as Christians and they blindly believe that everything that says in the bible is true. Or maybe they chose to believe it later in life, but it’s all the same in the end.
It’s like asking ‘‘why do muslims think that Mohammed was the real prophet?’’
Will you please quit insulting us? No, we don’t all believe because we have “blind faith”. We have the historical evidence from our Early Church Fathers, from 2,000 years of documented Church History as well as from the Living Church which continues today all the way back to Jesus of Nazareth.
I am sorry if I insulted you, it wasn’t my intention.
However, you have to agree that you can’t know for sure what happened 2000 years ago. The so called ‘‘evidence’’ are all written by human hands, and humans could have added up anything.
You choose to believe that it is all true, even though it might not be. Other religions do the same. That’s my point.
Is Izraphel our lost r.gonzales? Lol. I think 2ndboys topic is great. He may not intended to acknowledge it but just trying to divert christian posters from discussing the most current issue like muhammad cartoons and how violent they are in responding it.
We dont blindly believe in Jesus like you blindly believe whatever muhammad say even a command to kill the innocent people. Even if we were born in Iran, you muslims would consider us as not real muslims.
a wise guy dosn’t accept that 3=1.does he?
The Trinity is a hard thing to understand. One way it was explained to me was in terms of relationships. Your mother is, at the same time, your mother, a wife to your father, and a sister to her siblings. All at one time, she is Mother, Wife and Sister, but is she three beings?
SAHmommy
yes you are right.
and God is creator of world, and judge of resurrection and …
but God is one.and has differnt roles.
your statement is true but dosn’t prove anything in your side
I totally agree that the trinity is at times a hard concept to understand… But it as you said there are different ways of explaining it to get it across… but for the most part i think it is just one of the mysteries of god personally… its something we could undstand but probably never fully will. But thats just my opinion… its a test of faith.
does(did) Jesus worship God or not?if he worships(worshiped) God then God worships(worshiped) God and if he dosn’t(didn’t) then he is(was) sinful.
For me the answer is simple. Its a fundamental difference in the attitude to Mathematics!
Now you see, Muslims do ‘addition’ mathematics:
1+1+1=3 or 1 x 3 =3 and 3 is not 1 so there is no Trinity.
Christians do ‘multiplication’ mathematics
1 x 1 x 1=1 or 1^ 3 =1, the Trinity exists!
Why would he be sinful?
Jesus was full human as well, born under the law, just as the prophecy says; Jesus never asked or prayed for forgiveness thou coz he was/is sinless. In fact, the only sinless person to have ever walked on this planet…something to ponder upon.
To come to a rational conclusion, we need to define our sources of information. If we look at all evidence from history including all documents, archaeology and scientific investigation. We find out that Jesus was practical, wise, insightful, charismatic and intielgent.
(Please notice, I have not calimed the Bible as the sole source of this information and I’ve not claimed that it has any special properties relative to other sources.)
He also claimed to be God. This leads to the conumdrum (From: The Divinity of Christ):
Christ was either God or a bad man.
Unbelievers almost always say he was a good man, not a bad man; that he was a great moral teacher, a sage, a philosopher, a moralist, and a prophet, not a criminal, not a man who deserved to be crucified. But a good man is the one thing he could not possibly have been according to simple common sense and logic. For he claimed to be God. He said, “Before Abraham was, I Am”, thus speaking the word no Jew dares to speak because it is God’s own private name, spoken by God himself to Moses at the burning bush. Jesus wanted everyone to believe that he was God. He wanted people to worship him. He claimed to forgive everyone’s sins against everyone. (Who can do that but God, the One offended in every sin?)
Now what would we think of a person who went around making these claims today? Certainly not that he was a good man or a sage. There are only two possibilities: he either speaks the truth or not. If he speaks the truth, he is God and the case is closed. We must believe him and worship him. If he does not speak the truth, then he is not God but a mere man. But a mere man who wants you to worship him as God is not a good man. He is a very bad man indeed, either morally or intellectually. If he knows that he is not God, then he is morally bad, a liar trying deliberately to deceive you into blasphemy. If he does not know that he is not God, if he sincerely thinks he is God, then he is intellectually bad—in fact, insane.
Well, the concept didn’t come from man. It came from God himself ! Is it a wonder we creatures do not fully understand it ! I’m just happy that I can understand it at all !
I will agree that it is a hard concept to understand without a proper catechis, but if you have a good catechis and know your New Testament, then it as an easy concept to understand. We, as Catholics, believe that Jesus is eternally begotten (i.e. was begotten before creation, therefore eternally on the right hand of the Father). We believe the spirit eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son. Jesus taught us to baptize in the name of the “Father, Son and Holy Ghost” thereby making that name one, and equal. We believe Jesus when He said “I and the Father are one”. We believe that Jesus was manifest in the flesh and was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, ressurected and ascended to His Kingdom (Heaven) and sits at the right hand of the Father (not necessarily directing this to you, just adding this to your post).
Besides Mary, His mother, whom He made sinless to bring Himself into this world. Please also note that God created Adam and Eve sinless as well, until they offended Him and dealed with the Serpent.
