More examples of the US military oppressing humble practitioners of the “religion of peace”. No wonder we’re so hated around the world.

Islamic terrorism is not the equivalent of Islam just as the Jewish Defense League, as well as Zionism, is not the equivalent of Judaism. Although I am a supporter of Zionism, there are dedicated Jews and others who are not. It is a secular, political movement, not a religious ideology. And certainly terrorism in any form is far removed from religious values.

I like how you punctuate certainty with ignorance. Read a Koran. Terrorism is just a much a part of Islam as sacrifice is to Christianity. Muhammed used terrorism and rape to spread his religion, just as ISIS is doing now.

This is a report of American heroism. Don’t distract with “everybody deserves a trophy”!
This is a story of multi-national heroism. The first attempt to overpower the gunman was made by a French man followed by an American-French man. It was after the American-French man was shot in the neck that the Americans and Briton jumped into the fray. All of them are being awarded the Legion d’Honneur by President Hollande.

Cheers for a good rebuttal to a generally Democratic Party talking point.

The Hebrew Bible seems pretty violent if read without interpretive knowledge.

You beat me to it. Of course, in the Hebrew Bible, there was no opportunity for conversion. You were just slaughtered where you stood or taken as a sex slave. That was the way of war.

Refresh my memory, which of the Patriarchs spread Judaism through rape and terrorism?
I did not say rape and terrorism, but certainly violence and genocide are there in the Bible.

Does the Qur’an glorify the rape and terrorism of Muhammad that you speak of?

I stand corrected, so I am led to believe Jewish books have verses commanding us to kill others. Then it is the same thing. Thank you for clarifying that.

At least, we can say our Christian Bible has no such commands.

Read the CCC, and the words of the recent Popes if you want to know how the Church sees Islam.

From Lumen Gentium:

But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind.

Again, the preceding discussion is fine, let us hope people around the world will fight these kinds of terrorist attacks, no matter what faith does it, though, I don’t know when the last time I heard about Buddhist or Christian Terrorists, no, the IRA did not do their acts as an act of faith.

The Quran prohibits wars of agression. The Hebrew Bible does the opposite. They aren’t the same.

But a requirement is Jihad in Islam, the culprit in this attack is a Jihadist; they take their very name from their Holy Book.

Jihad - (among Muslims) a war or struggle against unbelievers.

The problem is terrorism not Islam.

Your efforts to malign the faith of Islam are not in keeping with Church’s teaching and may violate forum rules.

Jihad has different meanings. It is commonly seen by many Muslims as a 'personal struggle not a military affair.

Terrorism is the problem- not Islam.
