"KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan man who had faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity quickly vanished Tuesday after he was released from prison, apparently out of fear for his life with Muslim clerics still demanding his death.

Italy’s Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini said he would ask his government to grant Abdul Rahman asylum. Fini was among the first to speak out on the man’s behalf."

Yeah, other than praying for him there’s not much any of us can physically do ourselves.

That same Yahoo article stated:

On Monday, hundreds of clerics, students and others chanting “Death to Christians!” marched through the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif to protest the court decision Sunday to dismiss the case. Several Muslim clerics threatened to incite Afghans to kill Rahman if he is freed, saying he is clearly guilty of apostasy and deserves to die.

"Abdul Rahman must be killed. Islam demands it." said senior Cleric Faiez Mohammed, from the nearby northern city of Kunduz. “The Christian foreigners occupying Afghanistan are attacking our religion”.

No compulsion of religion??? What a farce!

I pray that poor man gets away!

I will keep him in my prayers. Who could blame him for wanting to get out of Afghanistan? If I were in his shoes I would want to leave ASAP.

If anyone is interested in reading a good book about Afghanistan, read ‘The Kite Runner’. It is fiction yet it seems so real that you forget it is not a true narative of the author’s life.

Muslim:
what? where the hell did you get that?
Apologies. I took your comment as being sarcastic. Forgive me if it was not intended that way. 😦

Muslim:
lets see which country takes him in…
Italian Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini has said they will take him, others will probably offer to take him as well.

Alrighty then!

“Deputy Attorney-General Mohammed Eshak Aloko said prosecutors had issued a letter calling for Rahman’s release because “he was mentally unfit to stand trial.” He also said he did not know where Rahman had gone after being released.” From Associated Press Writer Daniel Cooney.

I like the way it is easier to say he is crazy than to admit that maybe he has found the truth in Christianity. What?! He does not believe Islam! Than he must be insane, but let’s kill him for apostasy anyway! All too typical.

Thank you Almighty God for answering our prayers and may more Afghans convert because of this man’s corageous witness.
