I live in a Diocese which has filed bankruptcy due to the “scandal” we are all suffering under. Many of us are angry, frustrated, and hurt. One day while reading the Bible, I remembered Ninevah and how the king asked all his people to repent and thus they were spared. I thought how wonderful it would be if as a diocese we could all pray a novena for our Bishop, priest and whole community and beg mercy from God.
We, the laity are now calling each parish and contacting their prayer groups and asking them to pray the Divine Mercy Novena which starts on Good Friday. We are adding prayers for the Bishop, our priest who have died, those now living and those yet to come. We will also be praying Psalm 51. In this way, we feel there will be healing for all in our dioceses.
If your diocese is in this same situation and you would like to start a Divine Mercy Novena in communion with all the parishes, there is a great web site which has the prayers that you can download and pass out to those who are willing to participate. It only takes two or more in each parish to commit. Start calling now as you stil have time.
