Edgy stuff. How many of you will read it?
What is “edgy” about it? This is the typical dribble that has been foisted on readers for the past 20+ years. It ain’t “edgy” anymore, it’s becoming tiresome and trite. It is the same “edginess” that causes reality TV to suffer from the piled higher and deeper syndrome. Sure, the “edge” may shift its boundary, but it’s the same old, same old “stuff” inside.

It was fake all along? Color me surprised.
So we are going to use a fake extortion over the life of a fictional baby to sell books.

I wish I could say this surprised me.
instead I am just disgusted.

The whole thing just makes me wish to pray all the more for people who are pro choice. There are so many who see an unborn baby as a parasite that needs to be exterminated. It all makes me so sad. 😦

Could you imagine telling your 3 or 4 year old child that you killed their older brother or sister…?

I just can’t understand how some women (and men) see no issue with abortion and will say things like “I had an abortion and I have no regret and am proud of my decision.”

To me, they are selfish and possibly evil.

Which means what, do you suppose?
Honestly, I’m not sure.

On the one hand, I’ve seen plenty of video games and board game crowd funding campaigns clear that in a day, let alone the time that has passed. I think I would have genuinely wished that the money had been raised.

On the other hand, I’m not sure that people are willing to respond to such naked manipulation. People only have so much money to spend on pro-life causes, and they may think the money is better or more effectively spent on other initiatives. That amount of money can probably be used to stop quite a few abortions.

As far as hypothesis testing goes, its garbage. A better test would be pretend to be a woman in a crisis pregnancy who wanted to keep her baby but needed x amount of money to keep the child for some reasonable reason. If pro-lifers failed to respond in THAT situation I would be highly disapointed.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I suspect there are a variety of reasons why people respond or don’t respond to specific requests, especially where a response would just arouse conflicting motives and send conflicting messages.

Assuming this is a real woman who is actually pregnant, this isn’t just extortion. This woman is selling a baby!

God have mercy on us all!
This is really sickening. If this woman is real and she really is pregnant, she’s trying to put a guilt trip on pro-lifers. Her attitude sounds like ‘you give me what I demand, the baby inside me lives; you don’t give me what I demand, I’ll have this unborn baby aborted/killed: it’s YOUR choice.’ which is a very sickening mind set. Very sad.

Now that I think more about it, I don’t want her unborn baby to be aborted/killed. Why? Because every baby is a miracle from God, that’s why. If we find the woman is real and pregnant for sure, I would have her put in some jail for expectant mothers and keep her on watch with a female guard to make sure the baby is born and healthy and then try to get her to give the baby up for adoption. Charge her with child endangerment to an unborn child and attempted murder of an unborn child. She is a phychopath. It appears she doesn’t have a conscience or an awareness of what she is doing to her unborn baby.

Are you kidding me? I was seriously disturbed and saddened by the whole thing when I thought it was real. I felt like I would always feel a little guilty for the baby’s death if I didn’t give what I could (but the logical part of my brain realized how it sounded like a scam, how the woman could easily just take the money and get the abortion anyway, how the money could be spent better on other pro-life causes, etc…,pretty much all the things that have been said in this thread). I felt like crying when I first read it, and it takes a lot to do that to me. I bet this idiot author can’t even comprehend that pro-life people really do feel compassion for unborn babies and that claiming to hold an unborn baby hostage and saying you’re going to kill it will cause real emotional anguish to many people.
