Hi, i have a question about annulments. I was married years ago and at the time I was never baptized in any faith, but my husband was catholic. When we got married he never asked his priest if he could get married in another church. I have been told this is lack of form and for that reason it isn’t recognized as a valid marriage. I was also told because I had no faith at the time it was also mean I didn’t need one. I have just gotten baptized catholic and want to marry a catholic and the wedding is in July. I did not know any of the rules until now. I would really love to get married in the Catholic Church. Please help, thanks

You married a Catholic outside the Catholic Church without a dispensation? Yes, it may be a lack of form case. If you are planning to marry this July, you need to speak to your pastor as soon as possible, both for marriage preparation and to resolve the prior marriage.

Thanks, do you know how long it takes to resolve this situation? Will I have time?

We have no way of knowing how long things take in your diocese. That is why I said “as soon as possible.”
