I’m kind of feeling negative about Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, specifically about their decision to be a part of the move about the DaVinci Code.

One of the news guys on TV already has said that both have declared that the DaVince Code book is fiction, and so is the movie, therefore, no harm done.

I’m still concerned these guys have associated themselves with the production of this movie, seem driven just by the profit motive, and want to be a part of something that will mislead many.

Methinks they’re in it for the money, not much else, and can’t see past the $$$$$$$$ - signs, and probably don’t look. One plausible denial on any issues poresent, and go get the bucks.

Still, what some folks will associate with for money!

Blessings,

Gerry

The only GOD Hollywood types care about is the Almighty Dollar. The few who want some enlightment always end up with in some kooky religion or cult.

I remember how after Fahrenheit 911 came out. How everyone soon was an expert in Politics. I can imagine after this movie. These people will all become experts in Religion.

As Han Solo said to Luke and Leia - “Hang on! It’s gonna be a bumpy ride!”

Umm, you see, Farenheit 9/11 is a documentary, The DaVinci Code is a fictional motion picture…

Farfegnuigen 9/11 was a movie PRETENDING to be a documentary. It is a publically documented fact the Michael Moore makes up the facts as he goes along, or presents only those opinions that support his narrow and convoluted perception of the world. Nothing the Michael Moore has ever created has ever merited the scholastic merit to be truely considered a legitimate documentary. Michael Moore is a Profit of Doom, no more, no less.

And… so are the 100s of conspiracy theory documentaries made for JFK, UFOs and Paranormal activity. Do they hold any truth? Not really. But people still eat it up and believe in them. They live by every word and image they see in these documentaries and act as they are experts in said fields.

Yeah, no doubt the film was biased to say the least but it was still based on facts that were just streched a bit. The Da Vinci Code is purely fictional…or maybe Jesus did have a daughter? Mhmm…

Stretched a bit? Michael lies and stretches and does not care who he hurts in the process. Money is what he worships.

I am not sure about Howard and Hanks. They seem to worship at the altar of money also. Forget that they are offending Christians. Oh well, it is what we all do that will matter. Their book was a success, thanks to CINO’s and maybe their movie will be too. They won’t get my money.

Fr. Joe:
My seminary did a great presentation on the real “facts” of the DaVinci code a while back. You can check it out online at:

Thanks for this link, I’m listening right now.

On another thread I posted
Many non-Christians are going to read the book and see the movie.
When they talk about it we need to be ready to do what St Peter told us. ***Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame. ***1 Peter 3:15-16
Youth groups should be tackling this right now so that our young people are not led astray. Remember the warning given in 2 Tim. 4:3-5
***For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but, following their own desires, will surround themselves with teachers who tickle their ears. They will stop listening to the truth and will wander off to fables. As for you, be steady and self-possessed; put up with hardship, perform your work as an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. ***
No-one can say we weren’t warned.

Fr. Benedict Groeschel’s “Sunday night Live” TV show on EWTN this evening was devoted to exposing some of the more egregious errors contained in the “DaVinci Code”…

I learned that Leonardo’s last name wasn’t DaVinci and he didn’t call his painting the Mona Lisa.

If you haven’t seen the show, set your DVR and record it; it will be repeated a few times.

Im sorry to say that in Hollywood the major incentive to make a movie is by far the profit incentive

As far as I can see it the reasoning of these people to be involved in this movie was not to mislead. come one, just think about it logically: A best selling book around the world (whether it was good or not, is true or not, or is misleading or not we shouldnt go into here), read by millions, and you get the call to star in and direct the movie. How could you turn such an opportunity down, bearing in mind that many millions of people will probably see this movie?

So it is not intention to mislead, but the want to make more $$$$ that has driven these people to associate themselves with this movie.

OK, 9/11 was not that good or coherent a movie, but I did think that he had a point and made a good documentary in Bowling for Colombine

Yes, I saw part of it, and listened to the rest on shortwave. It was very eye opening. The statement I remember is that the Nazi propaganda minister said that if you are going to tell lies to the public, make it a big one, and people will believe it. Nobody believes just stretching the truth a little bit. This seems to be especially true nowadays, especially with this movie. I won’t see it.

**In order to gain the attention of the press it is necessary to be controversial. As the old saying goes: “No mess, no press”. **

I read that some where.
