I know it’s been off the air for several years now… but are there any X-files fans out there?

X-Files reruns are still shown on the Scif-Fi Channel every weekday at five o’clock. I love them and record them.

A couple of days they had my favorite episode. It was entitled Home and was shown in the fourth season. The plot centered around a family of deformed, inbreed people who were trying desperately to create a child. I rewatched it again and I was surprised that it was still spooky even after all these years.

Very few horror movies spook me out, the X-Files does occasionally scare me.

Because is it so close the truth???

:hmmm: Well, I don’t believe in alien abductions, so I can’t say that it is the truth that scares me. I think that the show just have better writers who don’t stick to the horror movie formula that American Film makers do. It gets annoying to watch a film and be able to pick out which characters are going to live and which will die. I can’t do that in an X-File episode.(Not counting Scully and Mulder)

My favorite episodes are probably the trio of Anasazi, The Blessing Way, and Paper Clip. I also like Small Potatoes (the guy born with the tail) and Bad Blood (the vampire pizza guy one).

I watched until the end but didn’t really like a lot of seasons seven, eight, and nine.

I own the complete series and have watched first five years.
“Mulder it’s me” is my favorite line.

Scully struggles with her Catholic faith and is one of the best characters in TV history. Her struggle with cancer, her problems with her family and her Dad and Sister dying are really great writing.

Mulder is a clown with a cause and a gun and I don’t take him as seriously.

The return of the Smoking Man is great (kinda like JR Ewing)

Some the stories are spooky, the angel one (4 faced Cherubum, I think )in particuliar. Some are truly hokey and ridiculous.

I would put it in the same class as Gunsmoke and CSI as great TV of all time.

Except for a just a few episodes (such as the inbred family) I couldnt get into the show. I also didnt care too much for the X Files movie.

I’m more of a Millenium fan. 🙂

I was until they got rid of Mulder. What were they thinking? That’s like doing a show about Batman and not even having Batman in any episode!

.
Is that the episode where Mulder throws out sunflower seeds to slow down the vampire because vampires are all obsessive compulsive and must pick up things that have been dropped?

Yes! 🙂

Haha! I’m a fan but you’ve actually picked one of the episodes I hated as your favorite. Most of my favorite episodes had the Lone Gunmen. I even liked that spin-off. I was sad to see it go.

Me! Me! Me!

I still miss settling in each week for a new episode. Mulder is just plain fun, Scully is my TV hero, and the peripheral recurring characters (Cigarette-Smoking Man, Krycek, Skinner, the Lone Gunmen) were always a treat. My only complaint was the decision to keep going for a 9th season.

That is the one episode of that show that truly freaks me out. The other ones I just brush off but for some reason that one is really, really creepy. Oh, I guess that one and the one with the kid that works at the fast food restaurant and eats people’s brains. (he was some kind of biological monster…who knows)
Ugh. (hubby has the first 6 dvd’s so I’ve seen them all somewhat recently)

Other than that…good show. My dad used to watch it on saturday nights when I was younger. (mom hated it, lol)

Now why would a woman who has had her arms and legs amputated and voluntarily lives under the floor (or was she under something outside) who has sex with her sons who all look like mutants creep you out?! Honestly, what were they thinking?! It wasn’t spooky, it was disgusting! I’m going to go out on a limb and say that those who like that episode might want to get counseling?

P.S. They were supposed to be making another movie…anyone know if that’s ever gonna happen?
The supposed second movie is the biggest x file around!

Last I’ve heard is that the studio has some interest in making the movie but there are some legal issues with show creator Chris Carter. He’s suing the studio over residuals.

I think the supposed government conspiracies depicted on the show were actually drawn from television and movie studio “politics”.

I never cared for X-Files until Duchovny left the show and Robert Patrick replaced him.

I had never heard of Robert Patrick, never seen Terminator II. But I liked this guy immediately. He had energy. Duchovny mumbled out his lines and half the time, I felt that he could care less and wasn’t even awake. He put me to sleep.

But Patrick woke me up.

My favorite episode was “Audrey Pauley,” where Doggett’s partner Monica is in a coma and the doctor wants to pull the plug. Doggett refuses to do so. With the help of a “mentally-disabled” woman named Audrey Pauley, Doggett discovers an organ-harvesting farm at the hospital. It’s a thrilling episode, very well-acted. Patrick is a great cryer. And the girl who played Audrey Pauley was fantastic. Very well written. Nice pro-life piece, too. Makes you think twice about pulling the plug on supposed veges.

I also liked “John Doe,” where Doggett’s memories are stolen by a Mexican shaman. Very gritty episode with no Mulder or Scully leftover plots to drag everything down. I wish the show could have continued with this kind of episode, writing, and acting.

I loved the Rosary killer episode. Very thought-provoking.

And I’m ashamed to admit it, but I actually like the butt-munchkin episode. It scared the whillikers out of me! For days, everytime I heard a squeaky noise, I got chills!

Of the Mulder/Scully episodes, I haven’t seen that many, but I did like the Peacock family episode (the inbreeding episode). Very creepy and twisted. It could happen–that’s what makes it scary.

I also loved the weather-controller episode starring Victoria Jackson. Very sweetly written and great positive ending.

If anyone is interested in well-done reviews and pictures of Seasons 8 and 9 (the Doggett seasons), here is an excellent website:
