Anything equivalent to Fatima in Islam?

Your thread title may be confusing to a Muslim because they may associate the name Fatima with one of Mohammed’s daughters not the Marian site in Portugal. 😉

Millions of Muslims witnessed the apparitions of Mary in Egypt in the late '60s which were occuring at a Coptic church. I don’t believe they have any equivalent kinds of occurrences in their religion though.

Doesn’t prove anything.
That was fast. How did you manage to read all of the information, news reports and personal testimonies in 2 minutes to reach your conclusion that it doesn’t prove anything?

I think I’ve heard of enough miracles to dismiss this one. lol

Would it not be more in the correct to say that Fatima belongs to the Moslems as well…

As many know , the name Fatima has the Moslem connection ;many in The Islamic world having atmost respect for The Bl. Mother, it is also well known how the ‘pilgrim virgin’ has been instrumental in helping our Moslem brethren to see the Mercy of God, in The Lord and His Mother !

Really? Even the Egyptian government confirmed it as fact:

Report of General Information and Complaints Department, Cairo, Egypt, 1968

“Official investigations have been carried out with the result that it has been considered an undeniable fact that the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing on Zeitoun Church in a clear and bright luminous body seen by all present in front of the church, whether Christians or Moslems.”

The above quote is all the way at the bottom of the page here:

Yeah and ufos are real.
I don’t recall a government ever confirming a citing of a UFO. Do you?

You are really being presumptious about these apparitions.

Especially because 1) You weren’t there 2) You didn’t even take the time to investigate the links and 3) The Egyptian government confirmed that the apparitions were real.

The apparitions occurred intermitently over a period of three years sometimes lasting 8 hours at a time and were witnessed by millions of people. Why don’t you check out the contemporary news reports in the Egyptian papers from the time?

Whatever I am biased to not believe in miracles so obviously I cannot put faith in them. However you put your faith in miracles so you will have a different opinion.

Well, since you do not have miracles in Islam it is not surprising that they do not hold significance for you. To accept Marian apparitions as true would mean that most of your beliefs are false.

As far as my putting my faith in miracles you have that a little confused. Because I have faith, I am able to believe that what happened at Zeitoun was a miracle.

No, they are miracles in Islam and the answer has been offered.

Personally miracles are their to draw a crowd. Miracles are just put on for show. Faith is what is important.

Actually there was a ufo sighting ( that was later debunked but it didnt make the news) but the Mexican govt did support it originally.

As a better question who all looked at it besides the church and the govt. Was anyone else invited to investigate it? specifically skeptics of the scientist type?? Seems like a fantastic opportunity, since it seemed to happen for extended periods.

Unlike the so called ghosts on those shows with people on infrared cameras freaking themselves out walking around in dark houses and old buildings, That think they see and hear voices etc.

Also, is it called a miracle? doesnt seem like one, wouldnt it be more of a sign or wonder??

I must have missed the answer. Can you clarify?

I don’t understand how miracles are put on for a show. Miracles are not able to be explained and are considered supernatural. You suggest that someone set it up.

I do agree that faith is what is important.

Miracles are meant to draw a crowd. You should’nt convert because of a miracle but because of your faith.

Sure, it can belong to the Muslims too but the whole Fatima miracle story is a very Catholic one.
