“This reinforcement of anti-LGBTQI attitudes and the refusal to recognize LGBTQI families as true Catholic families by Pope Francis will be treated with incredulity and dismay by the Catholic faithful,” the Irish group said.
No, it won’t. Seriously, this group needs to stop calling itself Catholic if it supports active lifestyles of grave sin.

I’m incredulous and dismayed why the Pope has not excommunicated that Irish group.

While it is good that he said this, this statement was not widely reported in the media and was made to a Catholic family advocacy group, so it wasn’t really much of a risk for him to say such a thing. I’ll give him more credit if he says something similar at the upcoming World Meeting of the Families when the spotlight will be brighter. Pope Francis tends to only make such “controversial” statements in front of an audience that will receive them warmly and shies away from saying such things to the people that really need to hear them.

Because people want to make God and the Pope in their image. It’s pitiful thinking 🤔

I think this explains (in part) the church’s position of welcoming people having different sexual orientations without re-affirming their beliefs.

I think the politically correct religion does not distinguish between the two. To not affirm their beliefs is not to welcome them, it is to offend them and it is to discriminate against them which now has legal ramifications because our societies are run morally by the politically correct religion (save for efforts such as Trump).

I would like to see more explanation from Catholic sources (respectfully) as to its judgement on this matter. How much of it comes from scripture, how much from natural law, how much from its understanding of the masculine and feminine nature of ‘man’ complementing each other to become united in something that is whole and holy?

Perhaps I have not being paying too much attention but I do not hear a constant and detailed explanation on this matter. That is not a major criticism because of course there are a lot of things going on and as I have said, I have not been paying too much attention.

When the Holy Father makes any public statement the audience is, in a sense, the whole world. How can the Holy Father be held responsible for journalists not covering his statements?

The media, by nature, wants to emphasize statements that could be seen as at olds with traditional Church teaching. It wants to ignore any statments that reflect traditional Church teaching. It wants to stir up controversy. It wants to make the world think the Church can change and the laity fear the Church will change. That is how evil works. The Pope doesn’t control that.

“This past week Pope Francis … raised eyebrows when he stated that homosexual families are not seen as families in the eyes of God.”
Pope Francis is stressing objective conformity with nature with regards to marriage here I think.

Thank you Pope Francis.

God bless.

I remember when Pope Paul VI was the darling of the trendy and liberal until he issued Humanae Vitae. Then they all turned on him.

Oh why be apalled and alarmed? Not only is he the very POPE of the Catholic Church … and just teaching what the Church has always taught

(though not emphasized because the whole ridiculous idea of SS"Marriage" is a recent novelty) …

… besides being 81 years old and still wanting to go to heaven (a possibility made more difficult if one spends their ninth inning misleading millions with misplaced sentimentality, indulgence of immorality, and the elevation of sophistry to a barely subsacramental level.

Hey. Go to heaven with him!

Be appalled and alarmed at the proper things.

We all need to make the “more holy” changes in our lives.

A journey towards being a saint (St.) is a better identity to permeate ourselves with than LGBT(Q etc., etc.) – or GOP or DNC or even USA for that matter. < Not to equate these things, other than … “inferior identity to becoming saints” … which has an eternal value that Popes are supposed to model and call us all to.

Remember, CBN is a blog run by Pat Robertson and the 700 Club protestant TV network, it is not a news source. Their agenda is to cast dispersion on the Holy Father.

Read the article the OP pasted. It does not seem anti-Catholic at all … and fairly balanced for a site that is clearly labelled for it’s advocacy.

I thought it portrayed Pope Francis quite positively in the main while acknowledging news stories from other sources as portraying him as perceived to be “more liberal than his predecessors” by the MSM and other groups.

As for being a blog … meh … news is news especially when true. The Christian Science Monitor is a newspaper. So is the Orange County Catholic. I favor CBNs directly quoting the Pope to the far flung paraphrases of what an author thought the Pope was REALLY saying … resulting in the often misleading "Vatican says (something unCatholic) … headlines we often see in “real” newspapers (sic).
