As a result of visiting various other forums, I have noticed a lack of charitbleness as is required by:
1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
So how would you rate us in comparison to other places you have visited?

It’s a question to help us to be more charitable. I am interested in how we stand in charitableness.

I think that we are very charitable. Of course occasionally tempers flare and the posters might need to take a break but this works both ways-Protestant and Catholic.

Sometimes I think that people come into this forum with set ideas and are taken by surprise that the Catholics on this forum not only can answer most of their objections to Catholic/ Christian theology but are passionate about being Catholic. Apparently most people are used to the Catholic who can’t defend their faith or are wishy washy.

The very fact where we have a board in which different religions and denominations are allowed to discuss-albeit passionately- their views without being censored is amazing. This doesn’t happen in some of the other "Christian’ forum. Many of these boards are considered a safe haven for the members and alternative points of view are not encouraged. ON those boards you will get a false sense of politeness simply because there are no differening views allowed for one to disagree with.

I agree. I myself am not always charitable, and I am always asking God to help me with this issue. It’s a hard job…

We do need to be careful to add modifiers such as most, some or a few, in front of the word Protestant. Their are so many differing beliefs among Protestants that we must be careful not to generalize.

I agree wholeheartily! 🙂

This is a terrible question!!! What are you—some kind of heretic?

Just kidding. 🙂

In all honesty, I have noticed a serious slide in the level of charity. Compared to other forums, maybe we are better, but are we striving for mediocrity?

I think over the last year, rudeness has increased.

I voted “not charitable”, which includes me sometimes. It seems to many times when someone makes a post that may go against the established flow, they are bashed pretty hard by some of our more zealot posters. This should be a discussion forum, with each of us trying to understand the other’s point of view. If you happen to disagree, do it respectfully and move on.

The term “heresy” is so overused on this forum, it’s laughable. If you happen to disagree with the Church on anything, the “heretic” police swarm on you.

Another thing that happens alot is the “judging” of other posters. We have quite of few folks who I think are trying to help God out in this regard. I don’t think God needs any help.

Duly noted. I hope others duly note this as well.

I think that most posters here are very charitable, but a few are not (some of those get suspended, and some of them stay just barely on the “right side of the law”, and stick around). Some posters are selectively charitable – charitable towards some of the other posters, and rude and nasty towards others. As to how posters here compare to those on other forums, it’s hard to say. Each forum has its own rules; some are much stricter than this one, and some much more lenient, with regards to what they will tolerate. 🙂

Good one Mickey! 👍

I agree with jrabs…I have noticed that some people can be very rude in discussions involving different opinons. Although I know tempers can flare sometimes, I think everyone (Catholics especially) should try to argue in a civil manner. 👍

I think it depends on the poster and the mood of the poster. Some days I am very charitable and others I can be down right rude. I am trying to improve but have my failings, especially when dealing with our Muslim brothers who try to bate us. I have been rightfully admonished by the Mods, so I am a little more careful about what and how I say things. I did not vote because there was not a ‘Varies’ catagory.

I have had a couple of rude awakenings on this forum! 😛 But then again, in my passion i think i may have said things that are not entirley suitible or good.

Some times we think before we speak, but aslong as we make up and move on, all is well. Its just the stuben ones that get to me! the ones that like to Critisize a qeustion rather then attemped to awnser it.

But other then that, i think the moderaters do a good job of keeping things to a certain level of obedience. 👍 I say this is a charitable forum. Catholics have thier on and off days to 😃
