My A.D.F. (American Democratic Foundations) teacher showed us a movie on the Bill of Rights last Tuesday. It was mostly a good movie, but it irked me that they consistently interviewed the former or current president of the ACLU (I wasn’t sure; it was a woman, and this movie looked to be about 5-7 years old). They then, under the credits, credited her as being an “expert”. I asked my teacher why they did that, and he explained to me why the ACLU is “pro-people”. Is there any way I can correct him and boost my case a bit?

You could point out to him that the ACLU is pro certain people and against other people. That they are lawyers with a specific liberal view of the world that they push through the courts, just as much as the ACLJ or the Thomas More Law Center pushes their conservative view of the world. The ACLJ and TMLC love the Bill of Rights as much as the ACLU does. All are ‘experts’ and to be fair, all points of view should be shared with the students.
