I was speaking with a neighbor at school today and she said that she had not been going to Mass lately because of the sexism of male only priests, the abuse scandal, proclamations from Rome and did not want her kids exposed to those ideas.
Can anyone offer a more liberal reason to remain Catholic and resume Mass attendance? She is not going to be open to a Scott Hahn tape at this time. I would like to give her something that will not make her defensive but keep her marginally Catholic where she currently is. I would love to win her over but would that be easier now while she is at least marginally Catholic or a year from now assuming she left formally and joined a liberal denomination.
Any thoughts? I want to meet her where she is; not enable her but not overwhelm her either. I believe the hurch has the Truth. What is the best approach for this woman?
