I
I say parents in Ca. who believe in this can and should take their child out of state.
Gender identity disorder, or gender dysphoria, is associated with people who identify as transgender but not necessarily homosexual. The former believe they were born in the “wrong” body, while the latter have a sexual attraction toward members of the same sex but do not have the need or desire to change their gender. The feminine characteristics you mention, such as lisping, are not typical of all or even most gay people. The “getting stuck in the maturation process” is a Freudian account of homosexuality–not GID–as a developmental arrest. And the type of therapy you refer to sounds like a variation of preventive psychotherapy, that is, therapy given BEFORE the advent of a disorder. This kind of psychotherapy has been applied by some to children to fortify them against depressive disorder. It is regarded as a controversial type of therapy.GID, Gender Identity disorder happens at an early age. Most toddlers correctly identify with their gender between 9 months to 3 years of age. I find it significant to note that the majority of gay men I have met. Speake differently. They talk with the lisp & inflections of a two year old child. This is precisely were they got stuck in the maturation process of gender identity.
I know of a program on Immaculate Heart Radio, where a Catholic Priest claims to have a very high sucess rate of working with children, before they become sexually active. In some cases these children have achieved proper Gender Identity with in 2-6 months of starting the process, thus avoiding the gay lifestyle. He claims that once a young man becomes sexually active in the gay lifestyle it becomes a sexual addiction which is much harder to treat.
What a shame that thousands of parents have been counseled to just accept their childs Gender Identity Disorder as healthy & normal. They loose the opportunity to make a huge difference in their lives!
Your aunt is not alone in her views. There is a community of deaf people who are resistant to devices such as hearing aids and surgical procedures to improve hearing, and believe they are endowed with certain abilities and ways of perceiving themselves and others, including their own (sign) language, that should remain intact.I don’t think it is wrong to ban these practices for children because they have been proven ineffective and in most cases harmful. However, I do have a problem with the reasoning they cited. Should a kind of therapy be found that is not harmful and is effective, that should not be banned. This reminds me of my aunt who is deaf and who wants it to be illegal to treat children for hearing impairments because it is taking away their “deafness”.
I have heard this too. It is has to be one of the stupidest positions I have ever heard. I have even heard of two deaf people having kids hoping they will be deaf too. In my opinion you have to be a bit of a psychopath to think like this.Your aunt is not alone in her views. Some deaf people would agree with you, while others hold this position. I tend to agree with those who believe they are a sub-culture and wish to preserve their status. I don’t think this suggests psychopathy although it does have legal implications regarding the rights of children who are born deaf to deaf parents.I have heard this too. If you don’t want to fix your hearing, that is fine. But trying to prevent others from doing the same is ridiculous. Some deaf people would agree with you, while others hold this position. For once, we agree. If you want to stay deaf, I see not reason to oppose you. But why oppose others who wish to change? If you don’t want to fix your hearing, that is fine. But trying to prevent others from doing the same is ridiculous.
If an adult wants to put themselves through this, fine. But I’m glad that its banned for kids. Parents should not be able to put their children through harmful, psychologically damaging, ineffective programs in a misguided attempt to “fix” them. All this law is is abuse prevention. For once, we agree. If you want to stay deaf, I see not reason to oppose you. But why oppose others who wish to change?
What if a child is exposed to the homosexual subculture from an early age and is seriously confused? What then?I honestly support this. There is little to no scientific and unbiased evidence that a person’s sexual orientation can be changed. Often these so called “therapies” are harmful to the person seeking it.
What they really need is love, compassion, and respect. We also need to support them as best we can with disinterested friendship. In other words, don’t support their temptations to violate chastity. If we really want to evangelize them and others we should evangelize with our actions first and then words if it is necessary. “Preach the Gospel at all times, use words when necessary.” Saint Francis of Assisi
*I believe some are born that way and others become so due to physiological influences and dysfunctional families. It is also felt that one can also be affected by hormones in water and food. We ingest hormones in ever larger quantities because they have become part of the “food chain” and “water”. It is said that fish have experienced gender changes when exposed to waters that have been contaminated in areas where sewage is released. Makes sense. Those of us who suffer this disorder… well, at least me, were enraged. We all know they didn’t do this because it’s innefective(though it may be), it was done because political correctness dictates that people are “born that way,” no matter what.
