Can I sleep with my wife now that I know we are not validly married?

I was baptized Catholic, and had my first communion, but then left the Church. While I was an evangelical I married my evangelical wife, I did not receive permission from the Church for this marriage.

My wife and I recently converted to Catholicism, and then found out that our marriage is not valid. So now that we KNOW we are not validly married do we need to stop having sexual relations until we receive a marriage blessing from a priest?

So you are still married? Your first post implied that you had an annulment and you were inquiring about joining the priesthood.

You did not convert if you were Baptised, you were already Catholic. Did your wife speak to them at RCIA about her marriage? What did they say? Because I believe the fact of your marriage probably came up there. Talk to your priest.

This is wildly different from your first post but yes. If you are not validly married you should not have sex until you are. I mean that is pretty strait forward.

Marital status, validity, is always part of the “RCIA” process.
It may be how it was phrased.

If asked were either of you Catholic when you got married they might have answered according to their beliefs at the time and not the official status.

Someone could have dropped a ball, however, in my experience it is a rather thorough examination.

Yes since you were baptized Catholic you are required to get married in the Catholic Church for your marriage to be valid. Wait until you get your marriage blessed by a priest to have conjugal relations.
