Lawyer opposes fundraising by the other side. In other news, water is wet.
 
Qc’s cost a lot of money.

The other side has a very healthy vibrant fundraiser too
 
Innocent until proven guilty.
He deserves justice like everybody else.
As the Diocese is not supporting him why not?
 
Innocent until proven guilty applies in the US legal system. Not sure about Australia.

In the US sexual abuse cases, dioceses never supported accused priests; they were left to fend for themselves. And in some cases innocent priests were thrown under the bus for the sake of a quick settlement.

I couldn’t agree more. Priests were sold out for settlements without a due process to defend themselves. Some hired their own attorneys and refused to let a settlement without a trial put a permanent mark on them as a child molester.

I also note we have had 3 incidents in our Diocese of accused priests of child sexual abuse of children. Always made front page news. Two were later found out to be invalid, the accuser lied or the one case the man said he was molested in the balcony of a Church by a priest years and years ago

Come to find out that Church had no balcony at that time and the case was dismissed.

Problem is:
Front page news for priests accused
Back page news to note a priest was found not guilty.

Let us pray for all priests accused falsely that they might find healing and help from the Church and members from the Scarlet CM (child molesters) that will follow them all the days of their life. There will be doubt always in the minds of some if he is safe with children.

It seems a reasonable request to me. Priests do not exactly build up contingency funds, and he deserves a good defense.
