I have been looking into possibilities of Universities to finish up my degree at once I have my AA degree, and I am considering Catholic Distance University’s BA in Theology program. Has anyone attended their school?

I intend to be a elementary school teacher (preferably at a catholic school), but I am considering doing this – getting my AA in Education, transferring, getting my BA in theology, and then either going to get my teacher certification only or completing a grad program that is Elementary ed specific & includes teacher certification.

(sorry I wasnt sure which forum this would go in so I hope this is okay)

I don’t know that my response will help you all that much. But I DO know that the bishop that sponsored that university at one time was Bishop Thomas Welsh. He is retired now. But he is a great guy, still very active and there are a lot of good people associated with that school, as I’ve met some of them. I believe it is out of Virginia.

I just felt I wanted to put in my 2 cents. I don’t know much about becoming a teacher, but it sounds as though you’ve thought it out well. I say GO FOR IT !!!

I forgot to add, I’ve taken a few of their short “session” classes in the past and really enjoyed them. One was on the theology of the body and another was on mary (i dont remember the specific name).

They are a great institution. Not sure if you’d want a theology degree since you want to go into education, unless you plan on teaching in a secondary school. But I heartily recommend them. 👍 So long as you have the discipline to work without due dates!
