The school was correct in canceling the speech. It is political and very personal in nature.

There is already another thread on this same topic you might want to check out for more comments.

Roseanne got fired for much worse and that’s all you care about? The size of bullhorn :man_shrugging:t2:

Petty small message.

I spelled petty right.

He made headlines which demean his school. Intended?

If he made no references to being GAY how come that was in the New York Times headline?

Was there NO one else in the school more qualified to be valedictorian? Crossdressing publicly at the prom should have been a disqualifier at a Catholic School right there.

Or … was it the qualifier, and “Christian” …
IF indeed that is your real name – Peter Sellers
… was moved to the top of the heap by some Holy Cross STAFF members who like his controversial, political, personal and angry stands.

Clearly he was taking shots at the school as he departed … ONCE he got his diploma.

Holy Cross should have a meeting about rescinding not only his now published valedictorian status … but his graduation status as well. If overdue library book fines can delay graduation and/or school cooperation with whatever colleges request his records … THIS school reputation smearing stunt ought to be met with a suspension of records reportage (until such time as a public apology … perhaps including a word or two regretting his seeming public approval of a mortal sin) clears his jacket.

Relax. It won’t be done.

SHOULD it be done?

Well. Christian’s speech shouldn’t have been done.

🤔 Floral pantsuit and heels? Did he think prom was a celebrity masquerade … and went as Hillary Clinton?

I have finally been able to read the speech. Unless the teacher he mentioned was outside the boundaries, unless he shouldn’t have mentioned names, I don’t see what the problem is. He’s encouraging young people to fight for what they believe is right-- I can only assume there must be more to this.

BTW, used to be that valedictorian were the person who had the highest GPA. Maybe that was the case here?
