CBS News and “60 Minutes” correspondent Lara Logan took the gloves off last week, dropping her role as a disinterested journalist and delivering a speech in Chicago that criticized the Obama administration over its handling of the war in Afghanistan and the attack that killed four Americans in Libya.

Speaking to a crowd of about 1,100 at last Tuesday’s Better Government Association annual luncheon, Logan accused the administration of downplaying the number of Al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan to support its rush to leave. She also claimed Washington acts as apologists for the Taliban by downplaying their links to Al Qaeda and the strength of their organization.

“I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand that there is a major lie being propagated,” Logan said. That lie, she explained, is that the American military has weakened the Taliban…

This should be front page news on so many papers that it’s old news. Instead the mere mention of it by MSM is news - let alone the actual story.

Prior to 9/11, what happened when the U.S. pulled it assets out of Afghanistan prematurely without doing everything they needed to do? Oh that’s right, the Taliban moved in and took over!

Watch the movie Charlie Wilson’s War and know that since we defeated the Taliban after 9/11 they simply moved the majority of their operations into neighbooring Pakistan.

Today is the 12th anniversary of the attack on the USS Cole, while docked in Yemen. 17 sailors perished in that bombing. At the time most attacks against the US military and civilians where treated more as a legal matter. The Cole wasn’t much different. In hindsight, it should have been though.

Then 9/11 happened. That was a wake up call that radical islamic groups were at war with the US. The islamic groups where not going away. I think over the years in our battles with Al Qaeda and other similar groups, we have taken some wrong turns along that way. The central problem though seems to remain, how to deal effectively with these radical islamic organizations.

A problem with the Obama administration seems to be a desire to revert back to a time seen during the Clinton administration when radical islamic terrorist acts where treated as legal matters. I think that we have all hoped that Al Qaeda and similar groups had been destroyed and no longer a major threat to the US and other countries. Recent events though are proving otherwise.

Thought Michelle Malkin has a nice article on this topic.

Also enjoyed Walter Russell Mead’s piece on troubling events in Syria. Not many good answers for what is happening in Syria, but with Al Qaeda now successfully stepping up efforts in the country, that very well could lead to further troubles in the region and for us.

Both the attack on the USS Cole and 9/11 were acts of war.:blackeye::blackeye:

It doesn’t matter when we pull out of Afghanistan. The Taliban will move in and take over, regardless. They’re there now, and will be there long after we’ve gone.
Nobody goes “nation-building” in Afghanistan. Ever. Never have and never will.

Let’s not forget the Mujahideen (taliban/al qaeda) have never once in history been defeated by a standing army. And that was back when combat was face to face and hacking each other with swords and axes. Now it’s even “less” likely to defeat them because they employ guerrilla tactics and there’s little defense against that. Before some of us are so quick to call their style of warfare cowardly, lets not forget that we americans defeated the british redcoats ONLY because of guerrilla warfare.

Muslims+guerrilla warfare= cowards
IRA+guerrilla warfare= cowards
America+guerrilla warfare= freedom fighters?

What’s worse the Irish were fighting the British for independence same as america did and our country STILL has the gall to call them terrorists? I sometimes get overwhelmed by the ignorance, arrogance and downright hypocrisy of this country.

I’m sure the obama administration will attempt to discredit her in some way . It’ s at the point now where “everyone is in on it” according to the Obama surragats. Even Biden as the VP knows nothing and blames it on something else. Shameful.
