I Need some new ideas, running out of ways to bring this up or set an example against it?

Can we do a poll to find out how bad this is?

I don’t understand what you’re getting at. Can you explain further?

When I put the pieces of his post together, it sounds like he thinks it’s bad for couples NOT to use the Pill. In other words, couple should use the Pill.

He’s not going to find much, if any, support here.

The single reason that pushed me to discontinue the pill was the possibility that a baby could be aborted. At the time, my husband and I were disagreeing about when to begin trying to conceive. I wanted to start, he wanted to wait. Just knowing that I could have already been a mom broke my heart. I may have killed numerous babies without knowing it. I couldn’t live with that. 😦

I think he’s looking for “real life” examples of people who were on it the Pill and got off of it, and the “why” of it. He’s trying to give arguments against it to family who are not receptive to the message-- at least that’s my take.

I’m pretty sure you’re correct, but that’s not the way it reads.

Sorry my post was vague but the above is what I wanted to say.

Thanks for the info you guys have sent!

Please pray for our grandchild who is still in the mother and she is having trouble.

I was on the pill when I was a teen in a very messed up relationship. I had not joined the Catholic Church and was not even familiar with it at the time. I am not even going to touch the theological issues of birth control because at that time I was completely oblivious to any kind of theological argument so it had no bearing on my decision to quit.

I got off of the pill because it was a real hassle to remember to take a pill at the same time every single day. The pill regulated my cycle but turned me into a moody B—H. I smoked so the pill caused me to have high blood pressure. I gained a significant amount of weight while on the pill and I did not like that. I didn’t like the fact that I had to go to the doctor/clinic to get refills. I just did not like the way I felt physically or emotionally while taking the pill.

Here’s another good reason given to me by my sister - the Pill kills the libido of a lot of women.

Being a woman isn’t a disease. I was raised in the secular world, good little young college age women go on the Pill. None of us ever questioned it.

Another good reason, health and self esteem of our bodies, it is quite amazing to learn how we ovulate. All most women learn in sex ed class is that “generally” we have cycles every 28 days and we are likely to ovulate on day 14. We all know that isn’t true, but the medical community tells us the, usually to think that there is something wrong with us and sell us contraception.

NFP completely educates us on how our bodies REALLY do work. What woman wouldn’t want to know that? I currently practice Billings. Billings and others look forward on a day-to-day basis, regular or irregular cycles it doesn’t matter.

As our bodies prepare to ovulate, estrogen rises. A non-irritant cervical discharge secretes from the cervix in preparation for any sperm that is ejaculated into the open cervix. The cervical discharge is created on it’s own without any sexual arousal. A woman could be sitting at her desk at work doing nothing sexual and the sense of wetness at her vulva would occur.

Now this cervical mucus increases over days from sticky to wet as the cervix itself softens, becoming mushy. Eventually the mucus peaks with a discharge that is slippery in sensation and stretchy in appearance. After the ovary releases an egg (ovulation) the cervix closes and becomes firm and the cervical mucus dries up indicating that ovulation has occurred.

A woman is not counting days in her cycle or guessing from previous cycles. She is making current observation determining her fertility at that point in time. It is so incredibly easy to learn, every girl going through puberty Catholic or not, should know how to chart her cycle.

This would bring so much self esteem about her body, I really believe womenw ould respect their sexuality and be seen less as sexual objects. Now health care providers are using charting to help diagnose patients, a woman could be having a serious medical problem having crazy cycles, and a doctor could ingore it by just giving her the Pill.
