Oddly, the document did not say this. It said there should be no tendencies for at least three years before the diaconate. This definitely seems to me to be the better interpretation - that the tendencies have been overcome for 3 years, not just the acting on them. I wonder if it’s just conversational imprecision on the part of His soon to be Eminence or if he’s really advocating the minimalist celibate line.Oddly, the document did not say this.
