Okay, my question is, the Church itself is 100% right correct? The people within it are not, but what the Church teaches is 100% correct. Thank you and God Bless.

In terms of faith and morals, you’ve got that right. If the Church were to teach something false, then the whole house of cards would fall.

Simply read over John chapters 14 and 15 where Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit, (Paraclete, Advocate, Comforter, etc.) after He leaves (ascends) them. Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit would “call to mind all that I have taught you, teach you all things, guide you into all truth, and be with you forever.”

This means the “church” as a whole, not necessarily any individual, will have perpetual memory, complete knowledge, and complete truth. The word “forever” also means that no matter how many Judas priests should appear on the scene, they cannot strip the church of these promises. God always makes sure that there is one or more people in the church to keep the ship steady no matter how many mutineers are trying to hijack the ship.

It is not merely a coincidence that when one part of the church is assailed with the priest abuse scandals, there was also a John Paul II to stabilize things.

What the church teaches is that what it teaches is 100% correct…

Of course that’s what every church teaches so it is not particularly earthshaking.

Well as a bumper-sticker argument, that is correct. Of course, I think as you get into the actual arguments, the Catholic Church emerges as most likely candidate for not talking through its mitre when it says that. 😃

I was in a debate about this question with a fellow Catholic and was hoping for a good answer, which I got, thank you, but keep them coming.
