People like Jesse Duplantis play off of people’s emotions. It’s very easy to get people all excited and worked up. It’s much harder to challenge them to understand the Liturgy of the Mass developed over centuries, and to learn to “pick up your cross and follow me,” as Jesus commanded us to do.

What you want is real, steady growth in holiness not just a lot of singing and shouting. No amount of singing and shouting will get people into heaven. Only faith in Christ that leads us to union with him will do that. So, learn about your Catholic faith and I guarantee you will get excited with true apostolic zeal not mere emotionalism.

I’d agree with what Della said. Our worship of God is not simply about entertainment (which is what a lot of folks seem to be looking for). When that’s the case, as soon as things are no longer entertaining, people move on to a different church. It’s kind of like a marshmallow: it’s fluffy and sweet and might make you feel good, but in the end it will not give you the nourishment you really need to grow stronger.

The more you can learn about the real meaning of what we do in our Catholic worship, the more it will come alive and impact your life in a powerful way. As a priest, to think that at Mass we gather together and celebrate in the same manner that Jesus did with his disciples 2000 years ago is overwhelmingly cool! No amount of lovey dovey fluffy feel good entertainment can take the place of Jesus…truly present in the Eucharist. 👍

thanks that makes a lot of sense and thanks for taking time to explain it to me
