Do you have family who are/were priests or nuns?

I had an aunt who died recently. She was 92 years old. A Josephite Nun. She actually taught me in High School. How embarrassing was that!
Hence my reservations about Mother Angelica. My aunt was ultra conservative. “We are not amused” kind of personality. My mother’s sister. But how different their personality! My mother was not very religious really. She gambled to get rid of her stress.

I’m trying to become that family member. Hopefully this “radical” decision of mine- to give my life to Christ- will encourage my family to get on the right path.

That’s wonderful!

I have a cousin who is a Dominican sister and an uncle who is a priest. There was also a Christian Brother but he died many years ago.

And, God willing, I hope to be a Carmelite!

that is really interesting. God Bless you on your journey… I am currently trying to read Interior Castle. But each page is so packed with meaning, the going is slow!

That’s great! 😁
I may be on my way to becoming a Benedictine myself. I’m visiting a community next week, and I may end up there after college.

😵 Every time I pick it up, I feel like I’m reading the Bible for the first time again and I’m in Leviticus or Numbers.

Translation: the going is very slow, indeed!

Thank you, God bless you too! And I know what you mean. I love St. Teresa of Avila but it’s such slow going - I find I must keep stopping to reflect on what I’ve read. But definitely well worth it!

Ooo the Benedictines are wonderful! Best of luck to you on your visit, I’ll say a prayer for your discernment!

I have a brother in a seminary (SSPX 😱) and a sister in a convent (also SSPX-ish 😰). Not sure how I’m supposed to feel about that.

You’ll be fine 🙂 They will take great care of you and yours as do mine.:+1:t4:

I am between discalced carmelite, or redemptorist. I have been discerning for three years trying to get into an order so hopefully this will be my year I get accepted.

My father is a priest and my mother, a nun. We are a very Catholic family.

My favorite aunt is a Benedictine nun. The Benedictines have had a lot of influence in my life and they hold a very special place in my heart.

Also, my dad is a deacon!
