**Do you think Villa Maria Academy should allow a female couple to attend the prom?

According to local news they want to go as a date - girlfriend to girlfriend (lesbians).Uh, does this mean that two good friends can’t go together, esp if they don’t want to date, yet?
Maybe kids don’t go stag, anymore?
I figured. But if you don’t let them go together, then would you allow girls or boys go stag?According to local news they want to go as a date - girlfriend to girlfriend (lesbians).

I agree. But, on the practical level–how do you do this? I guess you could say only boy-girl dancing. But then there are all the group dancing where they just bounce and sway around. If they are just going as friends then I don’t see why not but if they are a lesbian couple then most certainly not! The Catholic school must stand up for what is right and to allow a lesbian couple to go to prom is not right!
Which means they are making a statement. And since they attend a Catholic school it is time for the school to make a statement that homosexual behavior is dis-ordered and the sinful.According to local news they want to go as a date - girlfriend to girlfriend (lesbians).
well, sometimes if you arent a student the only way into a school dance is to be the date of a student. you cant just have a random “guest” oft times.Which means they are making a statement. And since they attend a Catholic school it is time for the school to make a statement that homosexual behavior is dis-ordered and the sinful.
I wonder if they are what homosexuals refer to as gay in the streets straight in the sheets?
Administrators have no plans to change their minds.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s a PRIVATE school. The school can do anything it wants since it isn’t public. Personally, if I was the principal I would admonish her and let her know that what she is doing isn’t right. I would try to do this in a loving, charitable way and tell her this isn’t the Catholic way. If she continues to fight it, then I would boot her (but in a loving way)Buffalo News article:
Gay student hits snag over date to Villa prom
Laura Murphy planned on attending her prom at Villa Maria Academy. She paid the $100 deposit, scheduled a limousine rental and asked her date. She ran into a snag, however, and it has nothing to do with what shoes to wear.
Administrators of the private, all-girls Catholic high school school don’t like Murphy’s choice of companion, and they’ve told her to find someone else or come alone.
Murphy, a senior who is openly lesbian, wants to bring her girlfriend of six months, Lindsey Shelton, and believes school administrators are discriminating against them.
"They said, "We want it to be traditional. It has to be boy and girl, tux and dress and all that stuff,’ " Murphy said. "After I thought about it awhile, I said, "That’s not fair.’ "
The disagreement has caused a buzz in the halls of the school, which will be closing in June after 87 years due to enrollment declines. Murphy circulated a petition and gathered signatures from at least a third of the 130 students.

Meh, what the hell - yesRe: Do you think Villa Maria Academy should allow a female couple to attend the prom?
Easy solution. No proms. They are all too young to handle an event like that properly. Maybe in the past they were not too young (when education was directed towards what is good) but today, they are. The event is of no benefit.I figured. But if you don’t let them go together, then would you allow girls or boys go stag?
I hate the idea of gay couples at school functions, but I also hate the culture that pushes dating on kids.
What a quandry.
