Does Muhammed offer better morality than Jesus does?

It may be a while. I don’t think all the Muslim proselytizers have finally realized the site is back up just yet…

Anyway you could just bypass the sugarcoating of beliefs by Muslims who are looking to gain converts, and do this. Read the Quran (“clear and straightforward guide to life for people of all times” that it is  ), the Sahih Hadiths, and Ibn Ishaq’s “Sirat Rasul Allah” on your own and this should give you enough of an idea of the man’s own morals right there.

Sorry, I’m too lazy for that. I’d rather instigate, then check in from time to time.

I think Jesus does. Remember Jesus is God. What better morality can you get than from God himself!

I vote for Jesus. He never started a war, He never married a child, He never killed anyone, He never ordered the execution of anyone. Muhammed did all of these things and more.

Well, the real answer here is pretty obvious. I think the OP meant it as more of a rhetorical question to Muslims.

Common sense answers would be nice.
one thing must be understood in order to understand Muslims.

Morality to them is relative.

In Christian standard, Muhammad committed the worse crimes. To Muslims, these crimes were good because at that time, they were good, they argue.

That’s really true! One friend I have that’s Muslim (our relationship has been quite volatile lately for obvious reasons) once asked me “For you, who decides what is right or wrong… is it the Pope, or what?” I was pretty shocked that he would be so accomodated to the idea, of one person just “deciding” what is wrong and right on some arbitrary basis.

The more I think about it, actually, it seems like they just assume everybody else uses the same relative standard for morals. Talking to them is kind of like trying to describe sight to the blind. 😦

I can’t imagine why anyone could ever think of someone who would do that as uncharitable.

“Common sense ain’t so common.” Because if it was, everyone would answer Jesus and not Muhammed. Not that anyone who posted voted Muhammed but when the muslims come back on-line, watch out.

I think the Muslims will stay away from this topic. They know the answer and they don’t like it.

To be fair, Jesus didn’t actually teach much specific morality, and Islam’s a huge improvement over the weirdness that had been Arab religion.

And for the millionth time, Muhammad (peace be upon him, just to be polite to other people’s prophets) marrying a 12-year-old was an entirely normal, conventional marriage at the time, and I believe he did it as a kindness to her father. It seems weird to us, but how do you feel about Elvis and Priscilla? Not only was she 12 when their sexual relationship began, she was his first cousin. That’s a forbidden degree of blood in Islam, and that was the 1960s, not the 680s, so there.

My faith and objective judgment both force me to conclude, of course, in Christianity’s favor, but that whole thing about marrying the 12-year-old amounts to “He didn’t have the 21st century’s set of standards!”

To be fair, Jesus didn’t actually teach much specific morality,

the Sermon of the Mount alone is better than all Muhammad’s teachings combined…
and Islam’s a huge improvement over the weirdness that had
cousin marriage is not forbidden in Islam.
the marriage to a kid is not the only problem…it’s many other thing like polygamy, sexual slaves, killing, looting, rape ecc. This is not my opinion…it’s all written in ahadith…

Or maybe they are trying to avoid people who think those who disagree with them to be fakes and liars.

Is stoning considered moral? Just asking…
Or is it morally okay depending on certain circumstances?
Is it morally okay to lie to a non believer? Of course, I am sure there are good circumstances to do so…
Is it morally okay to have a paradise you hope for filled with the pleasures of the flesh? Amoung other hedonistic things?
I only ask as someone who is curious as to the definition one will accept as “morality”
Like the procedure for a divorce? Say what 3 times facing where?
Maybe this is a cultural difference that hinders me from seeing very little if any moral fiber in a sword wielding warlord.

Simple question, does such a teaching come from mere human “common sense” and understanding?Jesus: "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
