We are to believe I have always taken it the “Dogmas” of the Church. Dogma is by definition ipse dixit and unproven. This is not optional, that is dogma?

The Church is infallible on faith and morals. The is the basis of the dogmas. No man can have two masters lest he love one and despise the other.

A Dogma is something sacred that the Church declares is true. But, the Church only declares something to be true if it is true. If it wasn’t true then you would not be under any obligation to believe it. The Church doesn’t create truth. Only God can do that. The Church is merely passing on that truth. The assurance that we have that it is true is Jesus’ promise that the Holy Spirit would guide the Church into all truth, and that the gates of Hades would not prevail over it. If you believe that then it is just a matter of believing that the Church has been guided by the Holy Spirit and safeguarded in its dogmas from all errors
