I would very much like to become a member of a Dominican Oblate group. I live way off in a rural area that has no way to physically be a member, though. Is there a Dominican Oblate group that meets online, or at least a traditional Dominican study group online?

I’m a Lay Dominican and have an online Dominican laity group. We’re not called oblates – those pertain specifically to Benedictines. We used to be called Third Order or Tertiaries, until the Order decided we were all family. Now we are known as Lay Dominicans, or Dominican Laity.

Please PM me if you’ve any interest. I have to send an invitation, since it’s a Yahoo group.

Blessings,
Mrs Cloisters, OP

I am very interested. Do you follow Church teaching? I have to ask, as even with priests/sisters, some don’t. If you do, I am very excited to hear of an online group. God bless you!

Yes, of course, we do! The first year is known as Inquiry, and we have been posting materials produced by the St. Cecilia Dominicans for their laity chapter. I post the new information on the 30th of the month, since we started on December 30, the Feast of St. Andrew. Please bookmark this page. Then send me your actual email address so I can send you an invitation when the time comes, if you’re interested.

Blessings,
Mrs. Cloisters, OP
