From KOMO News:
A dying woman says a a security pat-down at Sea-Tac Airport left her embarrassed in front of crowds of people.

Michelle Dunaj says screeners checked under bandages from recent surgeries and refused to give her a private search when she requested one.

Dunaj, who is dying of leukemia, carried a large amount of prescription drugs through Sea-Tac to head to Hawaii for what would be one of the last trips of her life.

She called Alaska Airlines ahead of time to request a wheelchair and to ask how her medicines should be separated for the security line.

“I did everything they asked me to do, so I didn’t think it would be an issue,” she said.
Sure is nice to live in the land of the free…

(Oh, by the way, for you Obama partisans, I fully, 100% blame George W Bush and the 107th/108th Congress for this…just sayin’)

I think there is probably more liberty (in the traditional American sense of the word) in Russia - whether it be religious liberty or political liberty - than there is here in the United States at the moment. How ironic.

Would it not suffice to have letters from ones physician/specialists?
I think I’d come armed with all the supporting documentation I could muster.
Poor woman. May God give her peace.

The TSAs target people who are the least likely to pose a threat and are the most vulnerable. This does nothing to keep people safer.

TSA has no way of knowing that she really is not in disguise. Would be a good way to get on board. If they did not check and she was a bomber we surely would be talking about how lax they are.

Can’t please all the people all the time.

May we merciful my Lord.

And what was wrong with her request for privacy for the screening? Why undress her in front of everybody?

The Patriot Act needs to be repealed and both the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA need to be disbanded.

It used to be that hijackers just took the plane to Cuba or wherever and if the passengers did as they were told by the hijackers, they would come through ok.

Now, if someone tries to hijack a plane, the rest of the passengers will beat them to death like they did in China. Security screening or no security screening

Two plane hijackers ‘beaten to death by passengers’ in China

How many terrorists have the TSA caught & stopped from boarding a plane?

The solution here would be for security to be handled for the airlines, because they are the ones with the stake in market forces.

The TSA, thanks to Bush and the president, are now just another nearly-invincible union on the government doll.

And the reason they couldn’t do the search in private?

Soon they will have us all strip down to nothing, checking body cavities, all while out in public. And people will say, “well, that is the price of flying”

I’ll say what I have said since 2001…BAN THE TSA!

I’d rather take my chances with a crazy, hijacking radical than some Gestapo-esque TSA agent with a tin badge and latex gloves subjecting me to a humiliating search that violates my privacy and space. Also let’s use the facts…people have a better chance dying from a bee sting than dying in a plane crash…but you don’t have the TSA standing outside your door ready to massage your genitals and treat you like a criminal before you go outside.

America’s obsession with “safety” is one of the reasons it is declining so fast. Americans have --for the most part-- become cowards who need a government-sponsored helmet to do everything but typing on a computer.

Okay rant done.

This. 👍

I fly fairly often because of school and there’s nothing that gets me in a worse mood than the TSA. I usually treat myself to some delicious airport food right after to calm down.

I usually call or text my dad right after and declare, “Yay! I’m not a terrorist!”

When they ask for my ID I always feel like handing them a copy of the Fourth Amendment.

End the TSA!

(as a side note, I love walking through TSA security in my Ron Paul sweatshirt)

They already do. They scan your naked body. You think that picture they show you is all they see? They can the sweat running down your back. Meanwhile, they are filling you with more radiation than an x-ray.

I’ve never been through one. That’s where I draw the line.

This is natural for all police forces. Human nature is to avoid difficult and dangerous encounters. The police will tend to go after easy targets rather than real threats. This natural tendency is made worse by the fact that there is little to no accountability since this is government operation.

And as with all police forces, the TSA proves the maxim that when you give a jerk (the original uses a different word, but I’ll keep this PG) a badge, what you wind up with is a jerk with a badge.

My heart goes out to this poor woman 😦

More, biased, news coverage on TSA in general:

TSA Scanner Scam | Think Thank

To be honest, if I ever have to travel anywhere in the country, I will surely take Amtrak, even if I have to pay more. I will NOT allow people to treat me a like a criminal and/or dehumanize me. And, if I have to fly to a foreign country, I’ll take the Amtrak to Vancouver, and board the plane there.

:knight1: I’m sorry, but I will not capitulate. :knight2:
