Exorcisms Now Taking Longer

It’s interesting that he mentions how the intellectualization of the faith is contributing to the last of true spiritual formation. Indeed, many believers don’t really seem to acknowledge the devil as real, even going as far as to mock those who discuss these topics boldly.

I feel that the Church is going to endure a shaking from both without and within, in order to wake up those who are asleep, for the devil clearly never sleeps…

Father Amorth said the new Rite of Exorcism is inferior to the old one.

He would know if anyone would. Perhaps they should return to using the old one. Even if on a trial basis.

Priests have the option of using the old exorcism ritual. It became too obvious that the new one just wasn’t effective.
As for exorcisms taking longer, personally I don’t think it has anything to do with evil being stronger today - I think the fault lies with the priest. Maybe more fasting and preparation for exorcisms. Maybe developing a deeper interior life. Maybe fostering a relationship with Our Lady.

I really don’t think we can blame every exorcist priest. The author mentions lack of faith within the Church as a whole; that seems to be a much more likely cause.
