I feel called to start a blog but I’m struggling with the topic. I’ve always loved fashion and design. So my idea is to start a lifestyle blog with (modest) fashion ideas and home decor ideas. But, I’m worried that this is selfish. I guess you could say I’m being scrupulous but I’m scared that God won’t like me blogging about anything non-religious. Thoughts? Am I being too worried?

Do you think God has anything against the people who already have blogs on fashion and home decor? Since the answer is mostly likely no why would He be against yours? 😃
Go head!
I don’t think it can ever be called selfish. Maybe looking for vainglory if you really want to nitpick. But this is not necessarily so. Even successful bloggers comment that being exposed is not always fun. Ok they may be just whining to make everyone else feel good but… nevermind. Just don’t put it to heart that you want fame and glory and if they come… 😁…ignore them and that’s it.
May God protect you from internet’s vile users!

Oh no! it’s a great thing to do.

I’ve actually just mentioned in PM a friend of mine who is working in a Palestinian Textiles factory. I’m not going to get into political issues here but I’m sure people know enough about the situation there.

Anyway; because fashion is a common interest and she’s working along side them it’s a huge cultural bridge and healing a lot of divides.

God created everything. Great and small.

If what you do puts a smile on your face, chances are it will others too. It goes much further than you think!

If it brings you joy share it with others. That’s half of Gods battle on earth; people holding back from being honest with each other.

Go go go 😃

May God bless you, Mary!

If our Lord gave you this talent, then it would be a greater sin not to use it. The only stipulation would be that you always make sure you give the glory to God for giving you this gift, not yourself.

I would suggest, to help you stay grounded, you turn to Venerable Pierre Toussaint for guidance and patronage. He was a slave in 18th century New York City and was actually considered one of the finest hairdressers available at the time. He was so prominent that he was able to use his earnings to buy the freedom of his wife and children and found multiple aid groups for the poor and orphans of the city. He voluntarily stayed in slavery for the sake of his mistress, whose husband lost his entire fortune before passing away and left her destitute. Ven. Pierre supported her with his own wages until her death. He would be a wonderful patron for someone who is thinking to spread a Christian view of fashion.

I’ll be praying for you,
Br. Ben, CRM

I think that saying you are “Called to blog” is a bit over the top.
If you want to blog do it! THere are precious few good ones around.
May you be quite successful.

Im saying “called to” because that’s what I’m sensing from God. I have been praying about this. Why do you have to say it’s “over the top”? People are called to do many different things. Professional Blogging is simply creating online content for a living. No need to scoff.

I didn’t scoff. But people throw around the phrase “Called to” for all kinds of simply personal decisions/reasons.
I recall I wished you well.

scoff
skôf,skäf/Submit
verb
1.
speak to someone or about something in a scornfully derisive or mocking way.
“department officials scoffed at the allegations”
synonyms: mock, deride, ridicule, sneer at, jeer at, jibe at, taunt, make fun of, poke fun at, laugh at, scorn, laugh to scorn, dismiss, make light of, belittle;

I have recently started working on my fashion blog. I don’t hope to make living on it, but it will bring much pleasure to me

That’s awesome. Have you looked into monitizing it? If you write an e-book based off of your blog or enable monitization you can make any amount of money. One blog in particular makes 1 million a year. I’m not expecting that much at all. I’m hoping to use it as a side job since working from home worked best for my husband and I right now.

All the best with your intention to promote modest clothing.
I can’t see how that would be displeasing to God.
Ordinary human activities aren’t displeasing to God, if lived in union with Him.

Jesus and Mary engaged in all the humanly normal activities of daily life.
Mary went to market to buy food, cooked, washed, cleaned, sewed
Jesu spent around 30 years of life on earth, before He began His divine public ministry.

I think it’s easy for us to overlook the silent part of the gospel that reveals the sacredness of ordinary good and holy lives lived well. Remember that the locals were astonished that the son of a carpenter was revealed for who He really is.
We can offer and concecrate every moment of our daily lives to God.

A hymn I love:

I don’t think it was pianistclare’s intention to mock you, rather an attempt at being conservative with the terms to prevent misuse.

In this case, blogging ‘could’ have just been a personal whim or short lived interest. In which case it would be disingenuous to credit God with it.

However; if as I implied you go forth and really make an impact with it. Ergo something that has far reaching implications, that are more than they appear - then whose to say it isn’t an inspired path.

In many ways all actions and crossings of roads that advance our lives can potentially be of divine drive. It would be folly to assume we know the will of God at all times, when it can be so difficult to discern it amongst the quandary’s of life.

Good luck with it!
