From what I’ve read, on fast days, eating one or two small snacks–a* collation–*is allowed, as well as one normal meal during the day. Fish is not allowed with meat at the same meal.
Does it break fast or abstinence to eat fish for the collation, like a small fish’n’chips snack?

well fast days are also days of abstinence so there is no meat at all, and the one or two smaller meals, allowed if necessary to maintain strength, can be anything at all that is not meat. we have dozens of threads on this topic already with more than you ever wanted to know about fast and abstinence, in the Latin Rite, Eastern Rite, Orthodox and any other tradition, so do we need another one?
