Hi,
I was praying a Rosary today and the thought came to me that I should learn how to practice lectio divina. I am very undisciplined when it comes to reading and praying Scripture. Usually I just read page after page out loud straight through, and don’t reflect much on any small parts. I’ve been reading some instructions on how to practice lecito divina, and the idea of noticing single words that hit my consciousness really has been helping. I usually pray the Scriptural Rosary, and it has helped me to get a richer understanding of the mysteries to notice what specific words jump out at me that I didn’t think about before. I usually think in terms of whole sentences or whole ideas, kind of like a Gestalt, and I don’t usually consider the constituent elements that are constituted into it. But please pray asking the Holy Spirit to assist me in growing more holy in the practice of lectio divine and in it helping me grow in virtue and acts of faith, hope, and charity towards others. May it help in me evangelizing family, friends, and other people I meet every day. Perhaps ask St. Jerome for his intercession since he was so well versed in Scripture, having translated the Greek and Hebrew texts into the Latin Vulgate.
God bless you all.
